Game of Thrones Prequel Series – Everything we know So Far

Game of Thrones Prequel

The cable network HBO just announced that they would not be going forward with the previously planned prequel starring Naomi Watts. In other words, it is dead or been canceled but the drama we have come to love from the Game of Thrones is just getting started.

HBO hasn’t yet explained why the script written by Jane Goldman and main star Naomi Watts has been canceled but they have put the spotlight on a whole new Game of Thrones prequel. The new prequel will be based on the storyline written by George R.R Martin’s Fire & Blood, which goes into the past of the House of Targaryen.

The House of Targaryen is also known as the House of Daenerys that was played by Emily Clarke in the past on the original series. However, the House of Targaryen will be called the House of the Dragon in the upcoming Game of Thrones prequel.

The original plot with Naomi Watts was supposed to be set thousands of years before the actual time frame of the Game of Thrones and was to be filmed in Northern Ireland. Fans are still waiting on HBO to comment on why the first prequel was dropped.

The prequel with Naomi Watts originally had to be part of the final series of the long-running Game of Thrones. Game of Thrones won the best drama series award at the Emmy’ this September and we are positive it will be winning more awards this year.

Once again, Ryan Condal will be executive director on the prequel, but he will partner up with the director Michael Sapchnik, as they take the series back some 300 years before the events of the recent Game of Thrones. Condal is considered to be one of Hollywood’s top directors and is co-creator of the Cable network USA hit series “Colony.”

HBO did make a comment about the upcoming prequel saying that the past series of Game of Thrones has very rich storylines but now we will go back 300 years to explore the origins of the House Targaryen.

There is still no release date or when the production of the set will be started or even where the show will be filmed. We will just have to stay tuned in for more information.
