Greetings, Upper East Siders! Warner Media’s newest streaming service just announced that there will be a re-launch of our favorite TV drama series, Gossip Girl. It will be launched on HBO Max in the United States but it will be without our favorite gossip queens, Serena (Blake Lively) and Blair (Leighton Meester), but we are positive there will be plenty of drama.
The original Gossip Girl ran from 2007 to 2012 on CW. All of us could identify with someone on the show, some the insecure Blair or her innocent, modelesque BFF Serena who drew the wrong kind of attention. Then there was plenty of boy drama with Chuck (Ed Westwick) the bad boy and Serena’s love lust and stepbrother Dan (Penn Badgley).
But what drew us most was the endless variety of gorgeous clothing and that omnipresent blogger, the Gossip Girl who kept us up to date with all of the scandalous lives of the elite Upper East Siders.
It was more than a sitcom, it was part of our lives and it still is. A sitcom introduced many of us to a whole new world of fashion and style. Come on, who of you didn’t wear tights under your shorts for like two years straight?
In the last eight years since the Gossip Girl ended, social media has changed drastically. How will the new Gossip Girl share the information? The show will start off not where the show ended but eight years from where it ended.
Will we know what happened to Dan and Serena? Or Blake and Chuck? Or will there be a totally new set of characters to steal our hearts? Or who will be sitting on the steps of the MET?
While we might not know the answers to those questions, one thing we do know is that we will definitely be watching this re-launch of Gossip Girl. Plus, it will be interesting to see how today’s social media has changed the landscape of the Manhattan.
Plus, will Williamsburg still be the trash bag Blake always thought it would be or will it have transformed into the hipster area for the city?
There still hasn’t been any official announcement as to when it will be released or the start date. But we are sure we will be hearing more, as soon as possible, as to when it will begin and if any of our favorite stars will return.
