It seems that everything we used to consider being healthy to suddenly being our worst weight loss diet such as carbohydrates, gluten or dairy, even avocados had a bad rap in the past.
However, according to a cardiologist-turned-restorative medic, the secret to losing weight is by cutting out lechins from our diet.
Lechins are basically plant-based proteins such as beans, quinoa, etc. Lechins when digested become a sticky protein whose sole purpose is searching out sugar molecules and binding them together.
Numerous studies have linked lechins to increased weight gain, heartburn and even cardiovascular disease. Dr. Steven Gundry has created a diet based around eliminating foods that contain lechins. Let’s see why this diet is quickly becoming one of the best diets for men right now.
What is the lechin diet?
The lechin-free diet eliminates from your daily diet, foods such as eggplant, quinoa, legumes and nightshade vegetables (tomatoes and peppers). Also foods that are high in lechins are dairy products, fruits that are out of season and non-organic chicken and meats.
So what do you eat? There are still plenty of low-lechin foods that can fill your plate such as leafy greens, cauliflower, broccoli, asparagus, mushrooms, nuts, seeds, millet and organic meats and chicken and wild fish.
How do lechins affect to our weight gain? Lechins are a plant’s protective defense system against predators and often plants that contain, aren’t prone to insects infestations or predators that eat them. Lechins cause insects and animals to feel sick after eating them, so they don’t munch on them again.
In humans, lechins cause swelling and inflammation, which leads to weight gain or health conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Dr. Gundry claims that we aren’t capable of digesting lechins.
How does it actually help you lose weight?
Gundry has lost more than 70-pounds by removing all lechin products from his diet, plus many of his patients have had similar success stories. He claims that lechins are the primary binding ingredient that is responsible for our body storing fat. Stop eating them and instantly start losing fat.
A study conducted in 2006 indicated that a lechin diet has a positive effect on individuals suffering from cardiovascular diseases or a slow metabolic system. (Such as high blood pressure, high-blood sugar levels, high cholesterol levels and excess weight around the abdomen.)
But experts are concerned that by cutting out massive amounts of certain food groups, it might cause the body to lack certain essential nutrients. Since most legumes are eliminated on this diet, it would make it impossible for a vegetarian to follow.
Studies have shown that people who suffer from IBS experience less GI distress while on the lechin-free diet, also weight-loss success with almost all of the patients involved in the study.
Should you go lechin-free?
Overall, there are no studies proven that this diet doesn’t work and the science backs it up. Gundry has seen the greatest success with this diet with men when compared with women, because it promotes muscle growth.
He believes that our body is reacting to eating certain plants that we were not deigned to eat, which is why we are gaining weight. So maybe eating carbs is the new way to lose weight.
What are you waiting for? Put that bowl of quinoa away and start chowing down on some brown rice sushi.
