Kacey Musgraves’ name has been mentioned just about everywhere this year, with not just one but four Grammy awards and two Country Music honors. Plus, she sold out within minutes, all of the tickets for her “Golden Hour” tour, and let’s not forgot that she totally nailed this year’s Met Gala theme “Camp.”
She isn’t just ruling the country pop rock scene, but she is also supporting her family’s small business, Tom’s One Hour Photo Studio and Lab in Los Angeles. Despite her already overloaded schedule, she still found time to give her fans the best Christmas present ever, her holiday special show.
At the premiere of “The Kacey Musgraves’ Christmas Show” in New York, Musgraves was joking with a large group of reporters about how she felt while filming the show. She stated that she asked herself, what she was doing and that she so needed to get over this now. She said she felt this way because it was such a long process to complete the show and she was so tight on time.
The Kacey Musgraves’ Christmas Show aired on Amazon Prime, Friday, November 29, 2019. The show is based on Musgrave’s creative inspiration, by combining the classic Wes Anderson Christmas show that meets Gucci, Cher and a live theater production to blow our minds.
The idea for this show came to Kacey while she was touring in 2016 for her first holiday album “A Very Kacey Christmas.” She wanted to create a Christmas show that combined the nostalgic holiday spirit with old-fashioned Christmas shows and something new. Her dream became reality when she told her long-time band member, Kyle Ryan while completing her “Golden Hour” tour.
Her dream was to create a show that combined some of the old classics such as the “the Sonny and Cher Show” and “The Judy Garland Show” with a newer Christmas classic from Wes Anderson, with a few comedy shows, live music and little vignettes that resemble the live theater.
Finally, once she had a clearer idea of what she wanted to do, Musgraves presented the idea to Amazon and they gave total creative control of the show to her. Once she had the go-ahead, Musgraves contracted a unique group of friends to appear on the show, including her own grandma. Dan Levy was the main narrator, and appearances from Camilla Cabello, Troye Sivan, Leon Bridges and the Radio City Rockettes. But, how can we forget the surprise comedy scene from Kendall Jenner?
But Musgraves couldn’t leave out her close friend, the model, Gigi Hadid. Basically, The Kacey Musgraves Christmas Show contains an all-star cast that represent all aspects of the celebrity world.
Kacey gave careful consideration to all of the ensembles and costumes, as she wanted them to look vintage but not tacky. So, she enlisted her long-time stylist, Erica Cloud to create all of the outfits used on set. Musgrave spent most of the show wearing a silver-ruffled trimmed dress and strappy heels, but she quickly changed her outfits quite a few times throughout the show.
One of Musgrave’s favourite ensembles during the show was the 70’s inspired vintage jumpsuit with sheer puff sleeves and little Gucci bow for a touch of holiday flare. If you want to check out more of the outfits, be sure to watch the show on Amazon Prime today!
